How far in advance should I reserve my slot?

What is your turnaround time for an editing project?
Turnaround time depends on the client’s final word count, and the service(s) or package they select. It could be anywhere from 1-4+ weeks.
What is your rescheduling process like for editing slots?
Clients can reschedule up to one month in advance of their original chosen slot free of charge. Rescheduling less than one month in advance will require a $50 moving fee.
For clients located in the United States, there will be a small upcharge to cover taxes. For clients located internationally, there will be an upcharge to cover conversion fees.
Rescheduling up to a month or less than a month before the client’s original slot are both subject to the editor’s editing availability.
How does your editing process work?
If the client chooses to have me complete a sample edit for them, I will turn on the ‘suggesting’ option in Google Docs. This is how I will edit the client’s manuscript and/or blurb as well. Please note that I only offer sample edits for manuscripts and not blurbs.
After the client selects a date to reserve their slot, signs their contract, and pays their first payment or pays in full, I will start making edits/suggestions to their manuscript.
Blurb editing doesn’t require a deposit since there is a flat fee attached to the service. Therefore, the client pays in full for this service before work begins.
How are we going to communicate with each other?
I primarily communicate with my clients via Instagram and email.
If you don’t have an Instagram account and/or prefer to communicate via email only, please let me know when you fill out my inquiry form.
Do you require a self-edited manuscript?
Yes, I do. I require a self-edited manuscript from my clients for the following services: line editing, copy editing, proofreading, sensitivity reading, and beta reading.
This applies to clients who select a package with any of the services listed above.
Clients who select developmental editing do not need to send me self-edited manuscripts.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! I offer two-split and four-split payment options. Clients can pay in full if they wish to do so.
For clients located in the United States, there will be a small upcharge to cover fees. For clients located internationally, there will be an upcharge to cover conversion fees.
What method do you use to collect payment?
I use the ‘invoices’ option on PayPal for payment.
Do you require a contract and a deposit?
Yes! Before the first payment is paid or a full payment is made (depends on the payment plan the client selects), I will send a contract over to the client. This is after a payment plan and a date has been selected to reserve the client’s slot in my editing calendar.
Invoices must be paid in full or first payments must be paid to officially reserve your slot in my editing calendar.
Deposits are nonrefundable.
What is your stance on AI?
I’m against AI in all of its forms. I don’t use any form of AI in my work nor will I work with a client who utilizes assistive and/or generative AI in their writing and/or marketing.
